Duterte speech about the Maternity leave “women don’t have to worry anymore”

During the speech of President Rodrigo Duterte on the 1st National Assembly of the Liga ng Barangay sa Pilipinas that was held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City last February 25, 2019. He mentions about the maternity leave benefits in every woman here in the Philippines. President Rodrigo Duterte has been cracking jokingly about women every speech he made or even when he uttered words to the public. Some women have not to favor and except the way he talks. But others thought that it is just a joke and nothing needs to be serious about it.
People in Mindanao and who knows about President Rodrigo Duterte doesn’t give any bad comments of how he acts and talks in many different people. He is popular for being in the Mayor in Davao City for a very long time aiming a bright future in the people living in Davao City. Since then, TV stations and radio has been active in news for what Pres. Rodrigo Duterte has been done in the place of Davao City.

He publicly announced and promote that there will be an extended paid maternity leave of all women of 105 days. As we remember on the past years before President Rodrigo Duterte has been elected as the President of the Philippines, the maternity leave that a woman can avail will only take 2 to 3 months depends on labor delivery. As President Rodrigo Duterte started his terms for being the President of the Philippines, one of his achievements is approving the extended maternity leaves benefits in the Philippines.

“The law states that after giving birth, you are entitled to have 105 days vacation. In addition, the government will also give you P100,000. So women don’t have to worry anymore. You can give birth again and again,” Duterte said in Cebuano. 

It was signed into law on February 21, the Expanded Maternity Leave Act granted additional maternity leave benefits to all female workers regardless of her civil status or legitimacy of her child.

"If you have the progressive laws now about women --- ang kanyang pinaka is the extended leave sa mga buntis. Pagkatapos ninyong manganak, you can have about one month? Ah 105," Duterte said.

"Unlike before where women had to go back to work right away. But I’m not a woman so I’m not well-versed with that," he said in Cebuano.
