Samasa KM Group to President Duterte: (Shows Disappointment After Not Addressing the Issue of COVID-19)

A group posted in the Social Media name "Samasa KM" or "Samasa Kontra Mandarambong" urged President Duterte to give his power as President to VP Leni Robredo because they say that it is way more fit to VP Leni because she can do more better to solve this kind of problem.

"It is our duty to demand that our government protect us by keeping us safe. They are answerable to us. If we keep silent despite the lies and misrepresentations, the problems will persist. Testing kits will not be enough to diagnose sick patients and the untreated disease will rapidly spread. We all want to protect our families. And to protect us, government must be at the frontlines. Di pwedeng pabayaan Silang maghugas ng kamay sa kanilang responsibilidad. Sila ang May hawak ng pondo at ahensya na makakagawa nito. Huwag natin Silang Lubayan." Samasa Kontra Mandarambong Author Said.

I think this is a good reminder: government exists to serve the people. We have to hold government accountable to do its job. When we ask government to right a wrong, we are asking it to do it’s job. We need government’s help to assure the public, provide it the right information to prevent panic and so citizens can also help solving the problem. For example contact tracing information (where the sick went before their confinement) can help us determine if we are exposed and if we are, we can quarantine ourselves. To know who are sick of the virus, we need more testing kits so we immediate identify those who carry the virus so we treat and isolate them and discover who they cane into contact with. If government does not do its job, we cannot protect ourselves no matter what we do. Let’s not allow government to wash it’s hands of its responsibility to all of us. Samasa Kontra Mandarambong  Author added.

On their post at Facebook Page they slam the President after the recent press conference for COVID-19 last Monday (March 9, 2020), they say that President Duterte did not make any statement for the solution of the amid COVID-19. They also added that the President should address the main problems of the country and how they are able to get any good solution to help Filipino people especially for those really need it.

What a disaster.
The President finally showed up at a late night press conference when the nation needed to be assured that the government was on top of the Covid infection. With the rise of positive cases from 10 to 24 in a matter of hours, he only reiterated the DOH admission that we lacked test kits and that he was suspending classes in NCR until March 14. Even the lowest level official could have done this. He offered no solution to the problems: nothing was said on how to address the shortage of test kits, the water rationing that prevents people from proper handwashing (other than to say he will force the China-funded Kaliwa Dam on us which will take 2 more years), and the possible hit on our economy (other than promising to spend all money on rice for the poor). He did not answer the problems a leader should address.

All we saw was an incapacitated President who, instead of providing leadership at this critical time, could not make clear, coherent decisions. He could not even think straight.
The presscon quickly degenerated to a devoted defense of China forgetting that he was belatedly forced to enact a China travel ban after the death of one patient. His favorite POGOs took center stage in the press conference, defending them and insisting we needed the money from them, conveniently forgetting his own administration’s admission that POGOs have refused to pay taxes. He had earlier announced that his government needed to borrow US$200 million to fund the fight against the epidemic, and now, without citing figures or sources, says we have the money. Finding no concrete plans to present, he instead categorically admitted “we cannot prevent it”, “mahina contact tracing, mahirapan”.

The truth is, Duterte believes, in his own words during the press con, that the Philippines is a “fucking country”. That “historic cleansing” is necessary, making reference to the bubonic plague and Spanish flu that killed millions. Such careless statement only proves that he is willing to watch the country flounder and its people die off. “Hindi natin alam kung kailan tayo mamatay.” How unpresidential.
That press con was nothing but whim of a child who had just woken up at 10pm. Must have been snippets from his long dream. For how does one jump from talking about COVID to tilapias, to VFA, to his “respect” for Trump, and even endorsing Trump for next US elections? He even brought up his personal grudge against US Senators who accused him of extrajudicial killings.

So how do we solve the Covid problem again? He did not say.
We have an incapacitated President who cannot lead and is incapable of leading! This is not the leader we need at this time of crisis! He can proudly say he is willing to go and die, but must the rest of us follow him to his the grave? NO.

If the President cannot lead, then he should delegate it to the one who can. If he is not capable, then he should give it to the one who can. We need a sober, hard working, capable leader at the helm of this fight to save countless lives.

In his entire administration, there is only one official who has what it takes to get the job done. She has done more than what her measly budget allowed. She has shown she is sober yet relentless, hardworking, and capable of making rapid but thoroughly studied assessments of the problem and more importantly providing a clear solution. Her analysis of the failed drug war was spot on despite the fact she held the job merely for 19 days.

As Vice-President, Leni Robredo has the duty to lead when the President cannot.
We should all demand that he appoint Vice-President Leni Robredo to do this fight. He owes it to all of us, especially the 16 million who trusted and voted for him. The virus does not after all discriminate.

If the President is not capable, give the power to the Vice-President. If the President cannot lead, let the Vice-President lead.

In our own opinion about this matter, I somehow agree to the group which only trigger and made their own public post to show their disappointment to the president, of course! whether we like it or not we can't please all people because there are always criticism and opposition that will criticize the decision made by the current administration.

But since they are concern about the solution that the government will announce any solution to help people especially for those who really need it since the COVID-19 is a big issue here in the Philippines that will cause panic to every Filipino people that's good but to think that they will urge the president to pass the power to the Vice President is not necessary, I think all the government should help each other on how this kind of problem will be solved, and I am not okay about blaming all the problems and issues to the president because government is made to be as whole and you mention all the position such as Vice President, Senators, Governors, downwards.

Although the president has the authority to do such a decision we should always think that all of it is studied and analyze to make the right decision.

But like I said we can't please all people to understand, because everyone is concern about their health especially to their family, and this should be the primary problem that the government should focus on and not the other things such as VFA, Criticism, etc.
