Duterte: "You did not want me to be President" Says to Media "Manigas na kayo. Para sa tao ako"

On his speech during the Partido Demotratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) campaign rally, President Rodrigo Duterte that the media didn’t want him to be the President of the Philippines because he is not from the elite family. The speech has been delivered last Wednesday on Marikina City as one of the speaker of the PDP-Laban campaign rally. President Duterte claimed that he won the presidency in 2016 with a large margin despite of all alleged media propaganda against him.

“In the first place, you did not want me to be President because I do not belong to any of the ruling elite in this country. P___ ina ninyo,” he said.

“I am not your President. Manigas na kayo. Para sa tao ako.” he added.

President Duterte said to the media during his speech, “can weave a lot of stories out of a single line,” as he made an apparent reference to his controversial statement last December that he “touched" his maid when he was a teenager.
“So ‘yan ang technique diyan. ‘Ah si Duterte nagsabi ng ganon.’ Totoo.  Eh bawal ba ‘yung… Tapos, ‘Si Duterte nanghipo.’ Magsabi ko nanghipo ako. Sabihin ko ngayon ha, ‘Nanghipo ako kanina.’ Lalabas ‘yan bukas. ‘Oh may kinumot na naman na totoy ang p___ ina niya,’” he said.

The reason that President Duterte deliberately uses foul language in his all public and private appearance on his speech, so the media will have something to write about him.

“Sabi nila bastos daw. Tama. Bastos talaga bunganga ko. P___ina pagka ganon kaharap ko, itong mga durugista pati itong bastos mga media, lalo ko ‘yan silang binabastos para lalong magsulat nang magtrabaho,” he said.

“Bigyan ko sila ng trabaho because in the end…Alam mo in the end, she will fight against herself. Ganon ‘yan eh.” he added.

President Duterte mentions and clarifies that he never studied to be a statesman. He also lashed out at Rappler, the Philippine Daily Inquirer, as well as, the ABS-CBN network for what he claimed was unfair coverage way back to his campaign period as one of the candidates as the President of the Philippines. He had vowed to block the renewal of the franchise granted to ABS-CBN which he had accused of not airing a political ad of him that was already paid by his campaign team.

He (President Duterte) even threatened the Philippine Daily Inquirer owned by the Prieto Family on liable for plunder in relation to the Mile Long property located in Makati City.

On the other hand, President Duterte barred Rappler from all presidential coverage after the online media outfit reported that Christopher “Bong” Go had intervened in the selection of the combat management system of the two frigates the Philippine Navy was buying. However, the SEC revoked  Rappler’s certificate of incorporation for violating the constitutional prohibition on foreign ownership of mass media.

The CEO of Rappler Maria Ressa is now facing tax evasion and cyber libel cases. The Malacañang said that these charges on the CEO of Rappler had nothing to do with the freedom of expression.
